Herbal Classes with Anne
AVAILABLE CLASSES
Teaching is a passion of mine. My main goal at this point in my practice, is to help the non-herbalist feel comfortable with using herbs in the home, for themselves, and their loved ones. I would like to balance out a lot of the fear mongering and misinformation that goes on, regarding herbs and their safety. Empowering ourselves and taking responsibility for our own health and vitality is key to a balanced and long life.
My classes are available in several ways. There are online classes for those who do not live in the San Diego area, or who prefer the convenience of staying home, and learning at their own pace. There are also in-person classes, where you can have personal interactions with your teacher and fellow students. You can host a class in your home, and receive the instruction for free. I need at least five paying students to make the class happen. I am able to network to my interest group, to fill out the class.
Class descriptions can be found below. I am willing to teach on other topics. Contact me with specific ideas.
In addition, I am available for short talks for your organization or group.
If you are interested in any of the classes, and wish to be put on my interest list, please contact me at anne@thenaturalife.com I will send out occasional emails when classes are forming.
Class cost is $40.
Classes may be paid for online using Paypal
If you wish to pay by check please contact me, and I will give you a mailing address.
How online classes work:
The classes will come in three parts (via PDF). After each part is sent, you will be able to post to a private list to ask questions of the teacher, and talk with your fellow students. There will be a week between each part being sent, so you have plenty of time to review the information, and have time to ask questions. These classes occur when there is enough interest.
How in-person classes work:
Depending on how the host student prefers it, the class can be taught in one session (lasting approximately 3 hours), or the class can be split into three separate classes. The host will help find other students, in order to make sure there are at least 5 paying students. I will also announce the classes to my interest list.
I am also available for shorter talks for groups or retreats. Please contact me if you are interested in discussing this further.
Below are descriptions of the classes I am currently teaching. If you have ideas or desires for other classes, let me know. I am willing and able to create more classes in the future.
Herbal Basics
Learn about how to use herbs safely and easily in the home. Find out about the current popular herbs and learn which herbs should be in every home and how to use them. Take more responsibility for the health of yourself and your family.
These will be herbal basics classes, oriented towards the beginner. My goal with these classes is to have the students come away feeling more comfortable using herbs in their homes.
Classes will include: medicinal herbal history, nutrient content of herbs, herbs for specific body areas, herb categories and their uses, specific herbs for home use, popular herbs, how to use herbs, dosing, growing herbs, herbal first aid kits, etc.
Ideally, this class is taken first, to build a good foundation of knowledge. But that is not necessary.
Herbs for Women
These will be classes based on herbs for women’s health. This is a great continuing class for those who already took the basics class, and is a good class for anyone who has some basic herbal knowledge, or is a beginner and willing to ask questions. My goal with these classes is to have the students come away feeling more comfortable using herbs in their homes.
Classes will include: specific tonic herbs for general health and well-being of women, herbal specifics for women's challenges; bladder infections, PMS, cramps, general hormonal imbalance, breast health, fertility, pregnancy, nursing, etc. Included in the discussion will be nutritional support for women's issues.
Herbs for the Family
This class will be geared toward the WHOLE family. This is a great continuing class after the basics class, or is good for those with some herbal knowledge already. We will discuss herbs for babies, children, and adults. You will find out what herbs to have around the house for common complaints including how to make your own tinctures and what plants you can grow yourself!
This is a very comprehensive class covering many areas of health, and how to use herbal medicine and nutrition with your families.
Classes will include: how to give herbs to babies and children for various common ailments, how to build and restore immunity, herbs for women’s health, men’s health, and herbs for the continuing health of our elders.
